NANA

I just watched the real-life movie of NANA!
And let me tell you, it was good but not as good as it should be. :/

This popular Japanese movie is based off of a very popular manga called: "NANA".

It's like one of the most popular mangas out there. It's an amazing manga because it shows the real emotions of people. It shows people's selfishness, people's horrid desires, etc.

I RECOMMEND THAT YOU READ THIS BOOK FIRST.

Why? Well let me give you the book details first.

Author:
Yazawa Ai
Description:
From Viz:
Nana "Hachi" Komatsu hopes that moving to Tokyo will help her make a clean start and leave her capricious love life behind her. Nana Osaki, who arrives in the city at the same time, has plans to score big in the world of rock 'n' roll. Although these two young women come from different backgrounds, they quickly become best friends in a whirlwind world of sex, music, fashion, gossip, and all-night parties!

In 2003 Nana won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo.

Additional Info:
This series has stopped at Volume 21 due to the Author falling horribly ill. It has been rumored that she is well now and is starting to write the 22nd volume.

Review:
This is an awesome manga for many reasons. The captivated emotions, the situations that are believable, the main character doesn't just live out one love, it's not your avarage Shojo manga. I give it a 9.8 rating because this manga uses slang and they like to use it often. It gets really tiring because most people who use slang like "dude" or "man" don't use it as often as this manga. At first, it made me think that the mangaka is trying to hard to draw in the "cool" crowd but as you keep reading, they lighten up on the use of slang words...thank goodness.

9.8/10 Stars

Now for the movie review:
After you have read the manga, you find that there a lot of important aspects to it that make the story and characters who and what they are. There are different things that have urked  me in the movie that i found missing or incorrect.
~When Hachi finds out that Shoji (fucking asshole of a cunt -____-;; who should go and burn in a volcano) cheats on him, Nana walks up to him asking him what the hell is going on. She then realizes that this fool is cheating on Hachi and puts up a fist. Sachiko then stops her, Nana is going to punch her anyways, Hachi stops them. Nana then yells at Hachi telling her that this his her fight, to win him back, and to say something.
Now here is where it urks me, Hachi in the manga says somewhere along these lines, "No, I don't want to be with a guy like that. I never want to see him again." In the movie, she only said that she didn't want to see him and some other line. GAWD DAMNIT. Where the hell is this line? "I don't want to be with a guy like that?" ?!?! This line is crucial because it shows that she has pride in herself, that she will not let herself end up with a guy like that (even though she does anyways). So it's freaking important.
~Shin is a 15 year old boy in the manga. It's important because it shows how because he is so young and misguided, he falls into misery. He basically whores himself around to get by and later is almost involved in a scandal because he is underaged.
In the movie, he is...not young at all. I love that actor because of his appearance in Deathnote but dammit, he is not 15 years old.
~Ren is okay...He's not supposed to be okay looking, he's supposed to be HOT. And he's supposed to be slim, this actor isn't slim but average bodied. I was thinking someone like the lead singer to Velvet Revolver
~Yasu is perfect, Hachi is perfect, Nobou is almost perfect (hairstyle different but otherwise he's good), Nana is perfect, Shoji perfect, Sachiko perfect
~Junko looks to sweet, in the manga...I think she has a harder look, more bitchy and blunt as hell look.
~Reira's hairstyle is different, in the movie she has bangs but they are supposed to be ultra short to add a more chic, sweet look. And her outfits kinda sucked....
~Hachi's sister is supposed to be a Ganguro girl. The sister I saw in the movie was an average high schooler -_____-;; How can you replace the Ganguro one? She made the household more lively!
So far, that's all I remember that urked me from the movie. I'm going to try to watch the second movie soon :]
