I have long hair so that's a problem for me, I want to keep my hair long.
Another problem is that sometimes I get these little tiny white balls that are hard in my hair. No, it's not lice, trust me. Sometimes they are the ends of my roots. So sometimes my loose hairs that I'm shedding (sounds pretty gross) stays in my head of hair and just chill. I shed A LOT, no joke. My boyfriend always bitches about my hair being everywhere haha
I've Googled everywhere for answers and here are some things I found out and that has worked for me.
The hard, white balls in my head would most likely be dead skin cells that have been grouped by the oils of my hair. When I read that, I knew that this is the answer! My hair gets icky oily after a day. After a full 12 hours! I have to shower at night so that way my hair doesn't get oily at work or school. If I shower in the morning, I freeze my a$$ off because I'm where winter dominates any other season so my hair freezes...literally. That and I wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning for work and I can't take out like 40 min to get ready. I have to catch a train to work, so I'd rather take my 15 min wash-face-put-on-clothes-brush-teeth-and-pee routine. I can't shower after work because I have class right afterwards.
So I shower after I get from class...around 7-9.
My routine in the shower (I'm just going to say everything I do just because...I don't know o.o)
1. Soak in
2. Make sure that all of my hair is wet (I have thick and a lot of hair)
3. Shampoo BUT ONLY THE ROOTS, so just the top of my head because I don't want to wash out my natural oils from my already pretty dry ends.
4. Rinse, when you rinse out the shampoo, the shampoo running down your hair is enough cleaning for your ends. Shampoo is actually very harsh, so keep that in mind.
5. Squeeze out water from my hair (I do it by just squeezing, I don't pull my hand down while still squeezing, I let go of my hair and squeeze a lower part, let go, squeeze another part. You should remember to do this when you dry your hair with a towel too. If you run the towel down your hair and pull, it can cause damage and my hair is already damaged so that's not good. You should also not twist or rub the towel onto your hair.)
6. Condition my hair BUT ONLY THE BOTTOM PART. If I condition the top part of my head, I get those little white balls and my hair gets oily by the end of the day at work...which is around 3 :/
7. Leaving the conditioner in, I try to avoid the water from rinsing the conditioner out.
8. Clean my body, remember to leave the conditioner in.
9. Rinse out the soap.
10. Wash my face. I leave the wasing my face part waaay down the line so my face has time to open up it;s pores from the steam of my shower.
11. Rinse my face.
12. Rinse my hair with cold water. This really sucks for me so what I do is rinse my hair with warm water and even then I do a 5 second "hair in" "hair out" routine. I swing my hair into the water really quick and quickly pull it out.
Now if you do the hair-in-hair-out-5-second routine, then your bottom hair will feel like half of the conditioner is still in it. Here's the cool part, squeeze the water out of your hair. After I squeeze the water out of my hair, it feels like most of the conditioner squeezes out and coats the parts of my hair where it feels like there's no conditioner at all. It feels like there's an even really really light coating of conditioner.
For people with crazy frizzy hair like me, this little tiny, light coating of conditioner is super beneficial to me.
After I get out of the shower, I dry off my body then my hair by wrapping my hair around with the towel and squeezing. I don't rub the towel onto my hair or twist.
I get dressed then I go and comb my hair with a wide-toothed comb. I have to, have to comb my hair because otherwise it will be a tangled mess when it's dried. Combing my hair causes the water to travel down and starts to drip. I towel dry my hair again and let my hair dry off naturally (I hate blow drying, I've only blown-dried my hair about 3 timesi n my lifetime since it causes major damage to hair. Heck, I barely straighten my hair now.)
I let my hair dry about half way then I get my VIRGIN OLIVE OIL or COCONUT OIL and apply some LIGHTLY (please don't drench your hair with it) onto my hair by just rubbing the oil into my hands and running my fingers through the BOTTOM PART of my hair. I never ever do my roots otherwise it'll be icky oily.
Besides this hair care routine, I try to get trims every once in awhile but with my hectic lifestyle...I have yet to get a trim haha It's been...a couple of months. It's healthier to get trims every 8 weeks or so to get rid of any split ends.
Yeah I need a damn trim bad! XD |
